The stone of natural citrine
Citrine is the yellow variety of quartz, its colour given by traces of iron; this stone is naturally coloured citrine, not heat-treated, so it tends toward softer, pale-to-golden tones and is rarer. Its Mohs hardness is around 7. In crystal lore it is known as a stone of light, cheer and optimism, and tradition links it with good spirits, courage and new possibilities.
The tumbled form
Tumbled stones gain their smooth, rounded surface through long polishing, which makes them sit pleasantly in the palm – a favourite as a pocket stone and meditation piece.
