A polished Narmada river stone, smoothed by India's Narmada River – its warm, earthy tones carry the quiet work of nature.
What the Narmada stone is
Narmada stones are found in India's Narmada River and consist largely of chalcedony, the microcrystalline form of quartz. The river's water smooths them over millennia, giving warm earth tones and soft patterning. The polished surface is silky and sits comfortably in the hand.
In tradition
The stones of the Narmada River are revered as sacred in India, and tradition links them with the energy of the god Shiva. Many keep them at home, using them for meditation or as a support for turning inward; tradition also knows them as a symbol of inner balance and the harmony of masculine and feminine (yin–yang) energies.
A natural product – each piece is unique
Tumbled (polished, rounded) stones are made from natural mineral, so the size, shade and pattern vary from piece to piece and may differ from the photo. A typical stone is about 1.5–3.5 cm, with a smooth surface that sits easily in the hand.
Use and care
Many hold it in the palm during meditation or quiet reflection; others keep it in a favourite corner, on the desk or in a bag. The polished stone can be cleaned gently with a soft, dry cloth.
The meanings and properties described rest on tradition and on the experiences of those who work with stones; they are not scientific facts and do not replace medical advice.
