What olive leaf hydrosol actually is
A hydrosol is the fine flower-and-leaf water obtained from a plant through steam distillation, carrying the volatile actives of the plant in an aqueous solution. Najel works with young leaves from Mediterranean olive trees using a traditional slow distillation, so you receive the soothing power of the tree in a light, water-based rather than oily form. The liquid has a faintly greenish hue and a fresh, soft, herbaceous scent.
How it fits into daily skincare
In the morning it gently opens the pores and prepares the skin for the next care steps, in the evening it clears traces of make-up and urban dust. It particularly helps oily and combination skin: it does not dry out the surface, yet it tempers shine, so it behaves nicely under foundation as well. It is a good companion through hormonal phases when blemishes appear more often.
For hair and as a compress
Sprayed onto the scalp it refreshes the skin and calms minor itching, especially helpful for those who use a hair dryer often. Misted onto a soft gauze pad it can serve as a three-to-five-minute eye compress, which feels particularly reviving on tired days or after long screen work. In summer heat misted onto the nape it brings instant relief.
How to use it on sensitive skin
Wash your face with lukewarm water, mist two to three pumps onto a cotton pad and gently sweep over forehead, nose and chin. You can then apply your usual serum or cream – the hydrosol helps the skin absorb the following layers more readily. Those prone to allergies should patch-test on the inner arm first.
Storage and freshness
Once opened keep it in the fridge and use within three months for the cleanest freshness. Unopened in a cool dark place it keeps its quality for twenty-four months. Do not replace the spray head with a different cap, as the dip tube is sized precisely to this bottle and other caps will not seal properly.
