Najel Black Exfoliating Glove (Kessa)

Najel black kessa exfoliating glove from Moroccan hammam tradition. Exfoliating, smoothing body peel, reusable, free from chemicals and microplastics.

What is the kessa glove and what tradition does it come from?

The kessa is a traditional Moroccan exfoliating glove that has been used for centuries as a central part of the hammam (Turkish-Moroccan bath) ritual. The strong, rough-woven glove removes dead skin cells in deep layers, polishes the skin smoother, and prepares it for the next care steps. You can experience this traditional procedure in your own bathroom, one of the most ancient secrets of Moroccan beauty care.

Why is it better than conventional exfoliation?

The kessa is a physical exfoliating tool, so it contains no chemicals, microplastics or particles that would burden the environment. It is washable, reusable, lasts for years. You remove dead skin cells much more effectively than with a one-time shower-gel exfoliation, and you can regulate the exfoliation at your own pace: rubbing harder or more gently.

Whom and what do we recommend it for?

You can particularly well use it if you have rough, dull body skin, if you spend a lot of time outdoors and your skin is exposed to environmental influences, if you want to improve problematic areas (e.g. upper-arm follicular skin inflammation), or if you apply self-tanner and need gentle preparation for even application. We do not recommend it for face: too strong an effect there.

How to use the kessa glove?

Soak yourself in a warm bath or shower for approximately 10-15 minutes so that your skin softens. Pull the kessa glove onto wet hand, then rub the skin with strong, long downward strokes: along the limbs, circularly on back. Strong pressure is not necessary; the rough material does the work. It removes the grey impurity layer. Rinse off with plenty of lukewarm water and apply moisturising body lotion or oil.

Care and cleaning

After use, rinse thoroughly with water, then let it dry completely in a well-ventilated place. It is worth washing it with soap once a week. Replace yearly or every other year if the fabric starts to wear. We do not recommend daily use; 1-2 times a week is optimal.
