Monores spinach is an early, fast-growing variety suitable for spring and autumn cultivation. It overwinters easily, so an autumn sowing gives an early spring harvest — fresh spinach on the table from late March. Medium-sized, oval leaves are full of nutrients.
Sowing
Sowing time: March and September. Spacing: 25×10 cm. Sowing depth: 2 cm. Prefers cool weather and moist soil. Bolts in summer heat, so spring or autumn sowing is recommended.
Pick the leaves 4–6 weeks after sowing. Uses: creamed spinach, spinach pasta, omelettes, smoothies, salads. Home-grown baby spinach in salads has a tenderness and flavour that supermarket bags simply can't match.
