Sound and character
Monolina G is the most versatile tuning in the range: crystal clear, balanced, neutral in character. If you do not have a single favourite fundamental or want to use the instrument in different kinds of sessions, this tuning is a reliable, easy-to-pair choice. The G pitch sits naturally with the human voice, with singing and with other instruments — singing bowls, kalimbas or frame drums.
How to use
The Travel Set includes: Monolina G monochord, round stand and extension, wide bag, felt and santoori beater, protective mats, tuning key, tuner, spare strings and monochord scarf. With the stand you can play in a back-friendly posture and easily move the instrument between locations.
- Set the stand up on a flat, stable surface.
- Place the instrument carefully on top and check that it does not wobble.
- Start the strings with continuous thumb strokes from both sides.
Why this product
If you have not yet decided which tuning is closest to you and you are looking for a monochord that works in many situations, G is the easiest to recommend. With the Travel Set you receive every necessary accessory in one step, so you do not need to buy a separate bag, stand or beaters.
Care tips
- Try the instrument together with the voice as well — the G fundamental sits in a natural singing range for many people.
- In workshops, the G tuning is a good starting point because most participants can connect with it easily.
- Always insert the protective mats into the bag before transport.
- Do not over-tighten the strings: if a string snaps, the loose end can cause injury.
- Take care when placing the dividing bridges under the strings: your fingers can get pinched, and the brass pins in the bridges are sharp and pointed.
- The bag's shoulder strap poses a strangulation hazard: do not let children play with it.
