Sound and character
Monolina D is the deepest tuning in the range: a full, vibrating bass, long sustain and a wide overtone field. If you are mainly drawn to body sensation and deep vibration — for sound massage or your own meditation — this tuning is a strong choice. The 24 overtone strings above the D fundamental form a shimmering, humming layer, while the 5 bass and 5 fifth strings build a steady foundation underneath.
How to use
The Travel Set includes everything needed for mobile use: the Monolina D monochord, round stand and extension (RS-28M + RS-28EX), wide bag, felt and santoori beater, protective mats, tuning key, tuner, spare strings, a monochord scarf, and a 30-minute online Zoom introduction. With the stand, you can play in a back-friendly posture sitting on a meditation cushion or chair.
- Place the instrument on the stand near your guest or yourself.
- Start the strings with a slow, continuous stroke using both thumbs.
- The 30-minute Zoom introduction walks you through the first tuning steps and playing techniques.
Why this product
If you travel regularly as a sound therapist, yoga teacher or sound artist, the Travel Set offers everything to start in a single package — at a better price than buying the parts separately. The D tuning is especially good when you need a grounding, embracing, deep sound.
Care tips
- Always use the protective mats inside the bag during transport.
- Re-tune the overtone strings now and then — a semitone lower or higher is also possible if it resonates with you more.
- Listen to sound samples on headphones or quality speakers; laptop and phone speakers do not reproduce deep frequencies.
