Sound and character
Monolina A is an overtone-rich tuning with a delicate minor character. If you hold introspective, quiet and deep sessions, this tuning works particularly well with silence and slow breathing. The A fundamental emits clearly separable details across the overtone series, which makes it especially strong in contemplative practices, mourning rituals and rites of passage.
How to use
The Travel Set contains the instrument, round stand and extension, wide bag, felt and santoori beater, protective mats, tuning key, tuner, spare strings and monochord scarf. The A tuning sits well with 432 Hz reference systems and the female singing voice, so it is ideal for vocal circles and sound meditations.
- Use the instrument on the stand in a comfortable, back-friendly posture.
- Start the overtone strings slowly and patiently so the detail can come through.

Care tips
- For one-on-one sessions, the A tuning is especially recommended when a slow, quiet, deep sound is wanted.
- Listen to the overtones with headphones too, so you can recognise which details to bring out while playing.
- A soft pad can be placed under the stand if you use it on a hard floor.
- Do not over-tighten the strings: if a string snaps, the loose end can cause injury.
- Take care when placing the dividing bridges under the strings: your fingers can get pinched, and the brass pins in the bridges are sharp and pointed.
- The bag's shoulder strap poses a strangulation hazard: do not let children play with it.
