Sound and character
The tambura tuning has a different character from the monochord: the sequence A-d-d-D repeats ten times across the string set. This creates a rocking, circular harmony that recalls the drone-like quality of Indian sacred music. The repeating pattern of strings produces a continuous, breathing texture — less overtone-driven than the monochord, but much more stable and grounding in feel. Seated, your body picks up the vibration through your back, pelvis and legs.
How to use
The tambura monchair is especially well suited to meditation sessions, to tuning in before yoga or singing-bowl work, and to therapeutic settings where the goal is not overtone richness but a continuous, rocking presence. It works equally well in a clinic, an educational space, a home or a wellness environment. A session of 5 to 10 minutes already deepens the breath noticeably.
Why this product
If a grounding, calming, circularly repeating sound is closer to your work than the floating shimmer of the monochord, the tambura version is ideal. Six upholstery options let you choose by aesthetics or by hygiene priorities.
Care tips
- The tambura sound speaks at its most beautiful when you stroke the strings slowly, patiently, and repeatedly.
- Keep the room at stable humidity (40–60 percent) for string stability.
- Always fine-tune before playing — the tambura is sensitive to temperature and humidity changes.
- A matching table and wheels are available separately to support mobile use.
