Sound and character
The Monchair monochord sound chair is one of Feeltone's favourite solutions for those who want to deliver sound therapy in a seated position. The monochord surface creates a deep, floating sound field that transmits fine vibrations through the chair's back directly into the client's back and spine. The sound is endless, undulating, filling the room – meditative, calming and integrative.
How to use
Simply seat the client in the chair and play the monochord surface on the back with soft finger sweeps. The vibration travels through the chair's frame into the rear panel, so the client doesn't just hear the sound, they feel it in the body. Especially well suited to people who struggle to lie down on a sound bed – the elderly, those with limited mobility, or anyone who feels safer seated.
Why this product
If you work as a sound therapist, massage practitioner or body-awareness facilitator, the Monchair opens your practice to clients for whom lying down is not ideal. In a single session your client can experience the meditative therapeutic effect of the monochord – no undressing, no lying down, just sitting and surrendering to the sound.
Care tips
- Play the monochord surface with long, soft finger movements – this builds the richest carpet of sound.
- Before the session, explain to the client what to expect – vibration on the back is a new experience for many.
- Keep the chair in a dry place away from direct sunlight.
- Once a year you can refresh the hard wax oil with a thin coat.
