The transparent zones of yellow fluorite
You hold an obelisk whose interior shows lighter and darker yellow bands. One of the attractive features of fluorite is the play of transparent and translucent zones. Sunlight or the glow of a nearby lamp passes gently through the stone, so the warm lemon colour seems to shine from within.
The pillar and the line of the tip
The obelisk rises from a square foot and closes with a pyramid tip. The lines are simple, calm and firm. The surface is polished and slightly glossy, so light reflects softly on it. You can place it standing upright, on a small riser or on a low tray.
Quiet contemplation on a shelf
The obelisk is itself a quiet, unfussy decoration. The yellow hue calls to mind summer sunshine, the soft tone of beeswax or ripening grain. On a bookshelf, placed beside an open book, it brings a friendly mood to the corner. In the morning you can see at a glance how the light plays with it.
A meditation corner and a reading nook
You may place the obelisk in a meditation corner or a beloved reading nook. Beside the gentle flame of a candle or tealight the transparent zones open further. During a long afternoon of reading you can lift your gaze to it now and then and rest your eyes for a few moments on the soft colour.
Cleaning and lasting use
Fluorite is a rather soft mineral with a Mohs value around four, so falls and scratches easily leave marks. Keep it on a stable surface and wipe it from time to time with a soft, dry cloth. Strong direct sunlight may slowly fade the yellow tone over long periods, so choose the quieter, partly shaded part of a windowsill.
