Since each gong is made individually, each piece possesses unique and special acoustic properties. These gongs are also known as Feng or Sun Gongs, and their distinctive shape sets them apart from other gongs.
Flat Shape and Wide Vibration Range
The MEINL Wind Gongs feature an almost flat shape, which allows the gong’s sound to fully open. This flat design results in the gong’s resonance spreading widely, and the sound sustaining for a long time. The gong produces clear, rich, and powerful tones, while maintaining long sustain. Its wide tonal spectrum ensures that every strike resonates perfectly.
Deep Tones and Sizzling Overtones
The most characteristic sound of the gong is its deep tonal base, which dominates with softer strikes. However, with stronger playing, the gong beautifully opens up and produces wave-like overtones, enriching the sound. The sizzling overtones provide a unique acoustic experience, while the gong’s sound dynamically evolves and expands.

The MEINL Wind Gongs are available in various sizes, ranging from 12" (30 cm) to 48" (120 cm) in diameter. Each gong comes with a mallet and cover designed to match the gong’s size. These accessories ensure optimal acoustic performance and protect the gong when not in use.
