You are holding a very large beige meditation shawl, 115 by 245 centimetres, big enough to wrap an adult body almost entirely. The beige tone is natural and warm, so it matches almost any interior. The weave is 70 per cent acrylic and 30 per cent cotton, which makes it soft on the skin and breathable.
How it serves at home
You will be glad of this piece if you are looking for a truly large, blanket-like shawl. Wrapped over the shoulders it covers the whole upper body; pulled into the lap it covers both knees and the lower legs; on a sofa it can easily be shared by two people. Spread on the floor it covers more than one meditation seat, so a guest will fit too.
Size and weight
The 245 centimetre length and 115 centimetre width are genuinely generous, so it is worth checking in advance where you plan to use it: in a small armchair it will hang over the edges, while on the floor it spreads out comfortably. One piece weighs 484 grams, enough to drape nicely both over your shoulders and across a sofa.
Cleaning and care
The beige colour wears well, though due to the large surface a roomy washing space is helpful. Wash by hand in lukewarm water, or use a gentle machine programme at up to 30 degrees with a mild detergent. We do not recommend a spin cycle. Dry the shawl flat on a towel, so it keeps its shape. Store it away from direct sunlight.
Origin and arrival
The shawl is made in Nepal, in local weaving workshops. It arrives at us in a paper bag, so it reaches the shelf clean and dry. As this is hand-woven, the texture of the fabric and small pastel patches in the colour may vary slightly between pieces, which we see as a quiet mark of craft.
What to consider when ordering
The shawl is intended for indoor or covered outdoor use; it is not water-proof or wind-proof. Due to its large size it is harder to pack into a small bag, so we suggest it more for home use or as a piece carried next to a coat on a trip. Watch it around young children: the long, wide fabric tempts them to hide under it.
