This large purple meditation shawl, 200 by 80 centimetres, wraps your shoulders fully and reaches the knees with ease. Pink, purple and red stripes run across the purple base, so the piece feels calm yet warm at the same time. The weave is 70 per cent acrylic and 30 per cent cotton, which makes it soft to the touch and breathable.
When you will appreciate it
You will be glad of this shawl when you sit or read in one place for a long time and would like your body to stay warm even when your attention is on something else. Draped over the shoulders it covers your arms; pulled across the lap it protects the knees; spread on the floor it offers a pleasant seat on a cool surface. The purple tone keeps a calm, quiet mood in the evening too, under lamp light.
Size and behaviour
The 200 centimetre length wraps a full adult, while the 80 centimetre width offers a comfortable return on both sides. The 297 gram weight is enough to keep the shawl in place on your shoulder, yet light enough to carry in a bag or a backpack. Both figures refer to one piece.
Cleaning and care
Wash by hand in lukewarm water, or use a gentle machine programme at up to 30 degrees with a mild detergent. Do not use a spin cycle. Dry the shawl flat on a towel, so it keeps its shape. Store it folded, away from direct sunlight, so the purple tone stays deep over time.
Origin and arrival
The shawl is woven in Nepal in local workshops and arrives at us in a plastic bag. As this is hand-woven, the placement and width of the stripes may vary slightly from piece to piece – we see this as a quiet sign of craft work.
What to consider when ordering
The shawl is intended for indoor or covered outdoor use; it is not water-proof or wind-proof. Watch it around young children, as the long fabric invites play. The purple colour may release a little dye in the first few washes, so we suggest washing it together with similar colours the first time.
