This large cream meditation shawl, 200 by 80 centimetres, wraps your shoulders generously and also reaches the knees. Pastel pink, grey, beige and blue stripes run along the cream base, so the piece feels gentle and quiet in mood. The weave is 70 per cent acrylic and 30 per cent cotton, which makes it soft and breathable.
When you will appreciate it
You will be glad of this cream shawl if you are looking for a soft, neutral accessory for meditation, reading or quiet evenings. The light colour matches well with bright interiors, wooden surfaces and pastel walls. Wrapped over the shoulders it covers your arms; pulled into the lap it protects the knees; spread on the floor it offers a pleasant seat on a cool surface.
Size in practice
The 200 centimetre length wraps a full adult shoulder line and back; the 80 centimetre width provides a comfortable return on both sides. One piece weighs 297 grams, enough to stay in place on your shoulder while staying light in a bag.
Cleaning and care
A light colour calls for a little more attention: it is best to deal with stains as soon as they appear, before they set. Wash by hand in lukewarm water, or use a gentle machine programme at up to 30 degrees with a mild detergent. We do not recommend a spin cycle. Dry the shawl flat on a towel, so it keeps its shape. Store it away from direct sunlight.
Origin and arrival
The shawl is woven in Nepal in local workshops and arrives at us in a paper bag, so it reaches the shelf clean and dry. As this is hand-woven, the placement and width of the stripes may vary slightly from piece to piece, and we see this as a quiet sign of craft work.
What to consider when ordering
The shawl is intended for indoor or covered outdoor use; it is not water-proof or wind-proof. Watch it around young children and pets: light colours show dirt more readily. If you share your home with a small pet, it is best to put the shawl away when not in use, so it stays clean.
