A deep purple meditation cushion with a print of walking elephants – the raised, steady seat and the inward-turning colour together create a settling mood in the practice corner.
The elephant motif
In many Asian traditions the elephant is a symbol of wisdom, strength and good fortune; its calm, deliberate presence is held in respect across cultures. Against the purple ground, the walking elephants give the print a quiet, ceremonial rhythm.
Comfortable, adjustable seat
The cushion is filled with buckwheat hulls that mould to the body and give support that is firm yet yielding. The outer cover is cotton with a zip; the inner cover closes with a drawstring. The height can be set to taste: less filling for a lower seat, more for a higher one.
Material and size
It measures about 33 × 13 cm, with elephants on a deep purple ground. The raised seat tilts the pelvis forward and helps the spine lengthen naturally.
How to use it
For meditation, breath practice and quiet sitting. The inward mood of the deep purple suits an evening, settling practice, and it makes a lovely gift too.
Care
The cover can be hand-washed in cold to lukewarm water or machine-washed at 30 °C. Because of the dyeing, the colour may vary a little from piece to piece.
