A stable yet yielding seat for practice: thanks to its buckwheat hull filling, this meditation cushion adapts to the body and helps keep the spine in a comfortable, upright posture. The black and purple cover carries the lotus and the Om symbol.
The lotus and the Om
The lotus is a symbol of transformation, from darkness into light, from haze into clarity. The Om (ॐ) is an ancient syllable of the Hindu and Buddhist tradition, held to be the primal sound of creation, the underlying vibration. Together the two motifs give the cushion a quiet, inward mood. These are traditional meanings, not facts.
Make and filling
The outer cover is cotton with a zip; the inner cushion is cotton with a drawstring close. The filling is natural buckwheat hulls, which hold the shape and height setting pleasantly. The height can be matched to your own build by adding or removing filling; a separate refill bag is available too. It measures 33 × 13 cm.
Care
The cover can be washed by hand in cold to lukewarm water, or in the machine at 30°C. Because of different dye baths, the shade may vary slightly between batches – a natural trait of textiles.
