Is the black screw cap suitable for long-term storage of essential oils?

It is well suited to short- and medium-term storage: the internal liner provides a leak-proof seal and prevents evaporation. For long-term, multi-year storage — particularly of citrus oils and oils high in monoterpenes — we recommend an aluminium cap instead, as metal is the most chemically inert base material. The strength of the screw cap is its simplicity in use and its modern visual character.

What kind of UV protection does the frosted grey glass provide?

The matte surface is produced by acid-etching and provides a mild light-diffusing effect: it scatters part of the visible light and reduces UV exposure as well. The protection does not match the UV-filtering capacity of classic amber glass, but it is noticeably better than plain clear glass. If you are storing extremely light-sensitive essential oils (for example citrus oils, chamomile, jasmine absolute) for a longer period, we recommend keeping the filled bottle in a cool, dark place, upright — together, the matte surface and dark storage provide the best protection.
