Marmande tomato is a classic French-bred semi-determinate, mid-season variety. The fruits are distinctive: ribbed, flattened round, 120–140 g. Ripe fruits can be picked free of their stems, which speeds up harvest. Versatile: excellent both for fresh eating and for canning.
Sowing and care
Sowing time: March in seed trays. Transplanting: May. Spacing: 60×50 cm. As a semi-determinate variety, it benefits from staking due to the weight of the large fruits. Partial removal of side shoots is recommended.
The fruits ripen continuously in August. The ribbed, flattened shape is perfect for spectacular roasted tomato dishes, salads and tomato sauce. A favourite ingredient of summer's rustic French and Mediterranean kitchen.
