Four-Wood Mala – 108 Beads, Elastic, with Deco Beads

A mala of 108 beads in four fine woods: rosewood, wenge, ebony and pear, with deco beads. On an elastic cord, also wearable as a bracelet; skin-friendly, nickel

The warm tones of four fine woods on a single mala: the dark and light shades of rosewood, wenge, ebony and pear draw a subtle pattern across the 108 beads. Deco beads punctuate it, and its elastic cord makes it easy to wear as a bracelet too.

Four kinds of wood

The wooden beads are pleasantly light and warm in the hand, giving a more understated, natural look than crystals. The differing colours and grain of the four woods – rosewood, wenge, ebony and pear – bring the surface to life. It is a skin-friendly piece: free of nickel, lead and cadmium, in line with European product safety standards (REACH).

What is a mala, and why 108 beads?

A mala is a Hindu and Buddhist tool for prayer and meditation, used to count mantras – by tradition 108 times. The number 108 carries rich symbolic meaning in tradition and is the classic frame for repeating a mantra. As it is repeated, attention rests on the meaning and vibration of the words while thoughts settle and the body relaxes. Today a mala is also worn as jewellery.

Wearing and care

The wooden beads are natural materials, so keep them away from water and cosmetics, and clean them with a soft, dry cloth. The elastic cord can be wrapped several times around the wrist to wear as a bracelet.
