Onion 'Makói CR' Seeds

Makói CR onion for two-year cultivation via onion sets: round bulbs with bronze-brown skin and white flesh, good keepers, not prone to bolting.

Makói CR is an onion variety recommended for two-year cultivation via onion sets. According to the catalogue, it is equivalent to the Makói variety. It is not prone to bolting, meaning it does not tend to run to seed.

From seed to onion

In this method, the seeds grow into small bulbs, known as onion sets, in the first year. Store these after lifting them, then plant them out the following year: they grow into full-sized onions. This way you do not need to buy onion sets, as you can grow your own.

Round bulbs with bronze-brown skin

The bulbs are round, with bronze-brown outer skin and white flesh. They store well, so you can keep your harvested onions for longer.

Sowing and harvesting, according to the breeder

Sow the seeds in March, 2 cm deep. Allow 100 g of seed per 10 m². Space the rows 25 cm apart, with 2–3 cm between plants: sown this densely, the plants form the small onion sets. Harvest time is July–August.
