Lugas F1 tomato is a Hungarian classic for home gardeners: an indeterminate trellis tomato (lugas means "trellis") that bears 60–70 g elongated round fruits in clusters all the way to the first autumn frost. Tall, vigorous growth produces a heavy continuous harvest from a single plant.
Sowing and care
Sowing time: February–March in seed trays, transplant outdoors after frost. Row spacing 80 cm, plant spacing 60 cm. Requires sturdy stakes or a trellis — the plant grows 2.0–2.5 m tall. Pinch out side shoots and tie up regularly.
The smaller, intensely flavoured fruits are perfect for salads, fresh eating, and home tomato sauce. Lugas type tomatoes are prized in Hungary for the rich, traditional tomato taste — a flavour that supermarket tomatoes simply cannot match.
