This low industrial lamp arrives empty. You fill the open, basket-like black iron frame yourself, with salt chunks or with stones. A sturdy metal base holds the frame. You will find the bulb and an EU plug cable in the box, and the plug fits standard sockets in Hungary and most of continental Europe, so you need no adapter. Empty, it weighs about 400 g. Made in China.
Salt, quartz or pebbles for the basket
The obvious choice is Himalayan salt, pink or white. If an old salt lamp of yours has cracked or worn, its chunks can find a new home here. Stones work too. A translucent stone such as quartz lets the light through, while solid, dark pebbles let it out only through the gaps between them. If you collect minerals, your favourite pieces will stay in view in the evening as well.
You can change the filling whenever you like: white salt in summer, pink in winter, or the crystals you want to keep in view at the moment.
The bulb gets warm
The bulb warms up while it is on. For that reason, do not fill the frame with pine cones, dried flowers, paper or fabric. Use salt or stone only.
If you choose salt, remember that it draws moisture from the air. Keep the lamp out of the bathroom and the kitchen, and stand it on a mat, as damp salt can drip. Should the chunks get damp anyway, switch the lamp on for a few hours and the warmth of the bulb will dry them.
For a bedside table or a desk corner
The low shape fits small spaces, such as a bedside table, a bookshelf or the corner of a desk. It is meant as mood lighting, a soft evening light next to your main lamp. Before changing the bulb, unplug the cable and wait for the bulb to cool.
