A lotus-shaped mood light in violet that, once lit, fills the room with a warm, soft glow. The deep violet brings a contemplative, meditative mood that suits quiet evening moments.
About the lotus
The lotus is a symbol of the path from darkness into light, from ignorance into knowledge; tradition also links it to the seven energy centres, the chakras. So the lotus-shaped holder is not only decorative but also a calming symbol in the room.
Material and finish
Capiz is the translucent outer shell of a marine mollusc, Placuna placenta (the windowpane oyster). It takes its name from the town of Capiz on the Philippine island of Panay, where it was originally gathered from the shallow coastal waters. Once cleaned, the shell turns naturally translucent, and when painted it lets light and colour play together beautifully. Capiz is a natural material, so small irregularities may appear – part of its handmade character. The petals are held together by a with a gold rim frame, and the piece measures about 13.5×5.5 cm.
Light and mood
The petals are made of translucent capiz panes on a fine metal frame. The light of a tealight glows softly through them, casting a warm, atmospheric shimmer. A lovely accent for a meditation corner, evening reading or quietly setting the mood of a room. For safety, a LED tealight is recommended.
Good to know
Because capiz is a natural material, each piece is unique and the shade and surface may vary slightly. The delicate shell is best kept clean with a soft, dry cloth.
