The body of this crystal wand is dark jasper, divided by patterned silver-tone metal rings. One end has a pointed crystal tip and the other a polished crystal ball. It is 26 cm long and handmade in India.
Earth-coloured jasper
Jasper is an opaque, coloured variety of quartz. Its colours come from other minerals inside it, reddish brown from iron, for example. This wand shows dark, earthy patches and markings, and every piece is patterned differently.
Its name comes from the Greek iaspis, and in ancient times it was carved into seals and jewellery.
Jasper is said to be a stone of grounding and steadiness. If you like to hold something during a longer meditation, this wand rests comfortably in your hand.
The point and the ball
People who work with crystals point the tip of a wand at whatever they want to focus on, such as a stone or a candle flame. The ball end is round, so it sits nicely in the palm. By candlelight the patterned metal rings gleam against the dark jasper.
A long piece for an altar or cabinet
When you are not using it, the 26 cm wand looks best lying down, on an altar, a bookcase or the glass shelf of a cabinet. Next to other crystals, its long, dark body stands out clearly against paler stones.
The crystal tip and ball can chip on a hard floor, so take care not to drop it. Wipe off dust with a soft, dry cloth, and do not soak it in water because of the metal rings. If you store it with other crystals, wrap it in a soft cloth so the tip stays undamaged.
