The most successful Schlagwerk log drum
This model is the maker's best-selling log drum, and for good reason: the F pentatonic tuning produces a harmony that almost invites calm, unhurried improvisation. Whatever order you strike the tongues in, the result blends pleasantly - which is why it sounds beautiful from the very first minutes, even for a beginner.
Eight notes on an F pentatonic scale
The tuning consists of eight tones: f - g - a - c' - d' - f' - g' - a'. The scale spans close to two octaves, so you can play deep accompanying notes and bright melodies on the same instrument. This tuning is built for intuitive playing: no sheet music needed, just your ear and your hands.
Padouk and alder
The soundboard is made of padouk (Pterocarpus soyauxii), the body of solid alder. This pairing gives log drums their warm, woody, long-decaying voice. Premium components mean the instrument holds its tuning and its clarity of attack for years.
Mallets and size
The recommended mallets are the MA102 and MA103, though the drum also responds to palms and fingertips. It measures 60 x 20 x 18 cm - equally at home on a table, a chair, the floor or your lap, and easy to carry.
