A melody you cannot get wrong
The log drum — also known as a slit drum or tongue drum — is one of the easiest melodic instruments to play. On this instrument six tone tongues are cut into the wooden surface, tuned to an F-pentatonic scale. The special quality of the pentatonic scale is that its notes sound pleasant and harmonious in any order. So you will play beautiful music on it even if you have never learned an instrument before.
Cherry and alder — a soft, full sound
The playing surface is made of cherry wood, which gives a soft, full tone, while the resonance box is built from solid alder. The six notes — c', d', f', g', a' and c'' — form a balanced, warm soundscape that answers gently to soft strokes and resonantly to stronger ones. The manufacturer recommends the MA102 and MA103 rubber-head mallets for it.
Who is it for?
For sound therapists and meditation lovers it is a calming instrument that supports quiet focus; for music teachers it is an excellent tool in group sessions, because children experience success on it immediately; and for families it is a shared instrument that young and old enjoy alike. Intuitive playing without sheet music is a restful pastime at the end of the day.
Dimensions and care
The instrument measures approx. 45 × 15 × 15 cm, weighs 3.7 kg and is made in Germany from carefully selected materials. Stored in a dry room at normal temperature, the wooden body keeps its sound for decades. Play it with soft mallets and wipe the surface with a dry cloth from time to time.
