The sandalwood scented candle from Provence brings a warm, slightly spicy character into your home. It is made by hand in the Le Chatelard 1802 workshop and every candle is placed in an elegant apothecary jar. Sandalwood is a deeper, more mature fragrance that especially suits autumn and winter evenings.
The nature of the sandalwood fragrance
Sandalwood is not sweet and not floral. It has a warm, woody, lightly spicy character. This is a fragrance that people usually associate with more serious moments and quieter evenings: while reading, by a cup of tea, or when the house grows still at the end of the day. It lingers in the space longer than fresher, floral scents.
What 100% soy wax gives you
Soy wax comes from a plant-based, renewable source. It burns more cleanly with less soot than paraffin. From an 80 gram size you get around 20 hours of burn time, which translates into roughly 5-6 evening sessions. The glass walls hardly accumulate soot, so they stay nicely transparent even towards the end.
The details of the apothecary jar
The transparent glass has the classic apothecary shape, around 7 cm in diameter and 6.5 cm in height. It fits easily on a bedside table, coffee table or bookshelf. The wick is made from organically grown cotton, does not give off an unpleasant smell while burning and melts the wax evenly.
How to use the candle safely
At the first lighting, let it burn for at least one hour so that the wax surface melts evenly; this prevents later tunnelling. Burn it for a maximum of 4 hours at a time. Before each lighting, trim the wick to about 1 cm. Stop using the candle when 1.3 cm of wax remains at the bottom. Keep it out of reach of children and pets, and never let it burn unattended.
When this fragrance suits best
It is wonderful for long autumn and winter evenings, for calm hours after a family dinner, or for relaxing after a bath. Our male customers often choose it as a gift, because sandalwood is not a feminine, floral scent – it is a more serious, classic fragrance. It is an excellent companion to a glass of wine, a conversation or simply a quiet solitude.
