The Le Chatelard 1802 Marseille soap made with donkey milk brings a special, ancient beauty tradition into your home. The nourishing power of donkey milk was already known to ancient Egyptian women – Cleopatra bathed in it to keep her skin soft and youthful. In Provence, in the Saint-Auban-sur-Ouvèze workshop, it is still made today following the traditional recipe.
Why donkey milk is special for the skin
Donkey milk is naturally rich in essential fatty acids and vitamins that help the skin regenerate and stay soft. Over the centuries it has become famous for its skin-renewing properties, and we especially recommend it to customers whose skin is beginning to lose elasticity with age or tends towards dryness. Donkey milk is also a gently caring companion for dry and sensitive skin.
What the full formula gives you
The 72% vegetable oil content together with sweet almond oil produces a rich, creamy lather. The formula does not dry the skin; it nourishes and hydrates deeply. Vegetable glycerin binds moisture in the skin, so the softness remains even after washing. The neutral pH value adapts to the natural balance of your skin.
The touch of the Grasse perfumers
The delicate fragrance of the soap was designed in Grasse, the French capital of perfumery. The discreet, slightly milky-floral aroma harmoniously accompanies the washing experience without being dominant. Many of our customers appreciate exactly this: it is perceptibly present but never overwhelming.
A clean formula
The soap contains no parabens, no animal fats (except for the donkey milk, which is a nourishing component), no synthetic antioxidants, glycol ether derivatives or PEG substances. Colouring is achieved with natural mineral pigments. The entire formula is 100% biodegradable. No animal testing is carried out for production.
How you can use it
It works equally well as a hand soap and a body soap, for the morning shower and the evening bath. We especially recommend it to those whose skin tends towards dryness in cold winter months or is beginning to lose elasticity with age. Thanks to the natural hydrating effect of donkey milk, daily regular use is also entirely fine. A 100 gram bar generally lasts 4-6 weeks with daily use.
