How many reeds are needed for an average diffuser?

For an average 100-150 ml diffuser bottle, 6-10 reeds are usually recommended. With fewer reeds the fragrance spreads more gently and slowly, which can be particularly pleasant in a smaller room. With more, the fragrance comes through more strongly, but the oil is also used up faster. The number of reeds is one of the main means of fine-tuning the diffusion rate.

Does the lavender colour keep its shade in the oil?

Accepted Answer

The lavender colour is durable and generally preserves its shade well in the fragrance oil for weeks or months. Over time and under light, however, any coloured material may fade a little – this is especially true if the diffuser is exposed to direct sunlight. To keep the colour vivid for longer, it is worth placing the diffuser on a shaded shelf.

Can a previously used reed be switched to a different fragrance?

Accepted Answer

Used reeds already carry a saturated fragrance, so it is difficult to use them for another scent – the new fragrance would mix with the old. If you wish to change scents, we recommend taking fresh, unused reeds from the pack, and keeping the older ones as decoration in a wooden or fabric basket, where they will release a gentle fragrance for weeks more.
