A smudge stick holder with a wooden base, black metal rails and the Moon card from the tarot. The base is 23 cm long and 9 cm wide, and the holder is 7 cm tall overall. A black metal tea light cup is set into one end. The blue and yellow of the picture glow against the dark wood. It weighs 0.4 kg and is made in India.
A moon face inside the sun
At the centre of the picture, a crescent moon face sits inside a yellow disc against a blue sky. Below it a dog and a wolf look up, a red crayfish climbs out of the water, and a path winds into the distance between two pale towers. Yellow drops fall from the moon onto the land. The number XVIII is at the top of the card, with THE MOON in English at the bottom.
Traditionally, the Moon is the tarot card of dreams, intuition and uncertainty. It comes after the Star and before the Sun. If you like to light a candle in the evening, this picture goes well with an evening smudge.
Where the bundle goes
Rising from the back end of the base, the black metal rails reach forward, level. Lay the sage bundle on them, lit end towards the tea light cup. You can light the bundle from the tea light’s flame.
The package contains the holder only. Sage and candle are not included; the photos just show how it is used.
Smoke and flame
Keep the room aired while you smudge, and stand the holder on a steady, heat-resistant surface away from anything flammable. Never leave a burning bundle or candle unattended. At the end, press the glowing tip into sand or a heat-resistant bowl until the smoke stops, and blow out the candle too.
