The woman and the lion
In the picture, a woman in white with a garland of flowers gently holds the head of a red lion. Above her is the number VIII, and below, the card’s name in English, STRENGTH. The lion’s red mane and the woman’s garland stand out clearly against the yellow background, which glows from across the room next to the dark grain of the wood.
For tarot readers, Strength is the card of patience, courage and inner strength won through gentleness. Older decks place it at number XI, the Rider–Waite deck at VIII. Give it to someone facing a big task, or set it on your own home altar or tarot corner as a reminder.
Yellow picture below the bundle
Lay the sage bundle on the two black metal rails, which rise from the end of the base and run level above the tea light cup. That way its glowing end points towards the candle and the bundle does not touch the picture.
A tea light fits in the cup, and you can light the bundle from its flame. According to the maker, the solid wooden base stands steady. Sage and candle are not included.
Putting it out and airing the room
Open a window while you smudge, and put the holder on a heat-resistant surface away from anything flammable. Never leave a burning bundle or candle unattended. When you have finished, press the glowing end of the bundle into sand until the smoke stops.
