Sound and character
An oval frame drum has a different voice from a round one: warmer, more intimate, often described as human-voiced. This character depends on even lacing and the quality of the cord. Horsehide holds the tension of the oval shape steadily and helps the sound travel cleanly along the long axis without distortion.
How to use
The cord has been cut and sliced specifically for the oval Feeltone frame drum measuring 54 x 31 cm, so the material covers the lacing exactly. Soak it in lukewarm water before use and follow the classic oval-drum lacing pattern: distribute the tension evenly along both the long and short axes.
Why this product
- Length cut precisely for the oval drum
- Strong horsehide that follows the asymmetric shape well
- The same quality Feeltone uses for its own oval ritual drums
- Matches perfectly with other Feeltone drum-building materials
Care tips
- Ideally use lacing cord and drumhead from the same animal
- With the oval shape, pay extra attention to even tension along both axes
- Keep away from children: the long cord poses a strangulation hazard
