Chinese Snake cucumber has very long, slim fruits. Long-season, very vigorous, mixed-flower home garden variety. The fruit is 35–40 cm long, dark green, with a distinctive 'snake' shape. Sweet, with plenty of juicy flesh.
Growing
Sow in early May in the garden. Plant spacing 50 cm, row spacing 1 metre. Trained on stakes or trellis, the long fruits look their best.
Pick young, from July. Uses: fresh salad, salad cucumber, sandwich topping. A traditional element of Asian cuisine.
