The Kayuragi name and aloeswood fragrance
You hold a package of Japanese Kayuragi Aloeswood incense sticks. The Kayuragi name comes from the Japanese words „Ka” (fragrance) and „Yuragi” (slowly wafting scented smoke). The sticks are 14 cm long and burn down in approximately 15 minutes. The package arrives in a refined cardboard box with patterns inspired by kimono fabric.
The tradition of aloeswood in Japan
Aloeswood is one of the oldest and most beloved fragrance materials of the Asian incense tradition. The resinous, deep, slightly sweet, woody aroma of the wood has been used in Japan for centuries during tea ceremonies, quiet home moments and silent contemplation times. The Kayuragi series brings this tradition to you in a modern form adapted for home use.
How to use the sticks
Place one stick in an incense holder — for example a wooden or metal tray, or standing in sand. Light the tip of the stick, wait a few seconds, then gently blow out the flame. The stick will then begin to smoulder slowly and burn down in approximately 15 minutes, releasing a pleasant fragrance cloud into the room. Place a heat-resistant pad under the holder, or a small dish to catch the ash.
When to use them
Kayuragi sticks suit evening reading hours particularly well, a quiet tea-side reflection, or simply relaxation at the end of a long day. Many people light them in a quiet corner of the bedroom or living room approximately one hour before bed. The 14 cm stick is long enough for an extended evening if you light it more than once.
Storage and safety
Keep the cardboard box in a cool, dry place, protected from light and humidity. Never leave a burning incense stick unattended — always wait until it has fully burned down or extinguish the tip. Place the holder out of reach of children and pets. One box contains approximately 40 g of incense sticks.
