Dill — annual, popular herb for fresh, dried or frozen use in pickles, cabbage dishes and bean dishes.
Dill is one of the most popular Hungarian culinary herbs — annual, fast-growing, equally usable fresh, dried or frozen. Classic uses: pickles (cucumber, pepper), cabbage and bean dishes, creamy sauces, fish dishes.
Sowing and use
Sowing time: from March–April through July, sowing every two weeks for a continuous fresh supply. Spacing: 25×10 cm. Sowing depth: 0.5–1 cm. Prefers a sunny, warm spot.
Pick the leaves 4–6 weeks after sowing. The flowering umbels (dill heads) are essential for cucumber and cabbage pickling. A spring-and-summer dill bed becomes one of the most-used corners of any home herb garden.
