Sound and character
The jaw harp's brilliant, overtone-rich tone draws you into the tradition of Vietnam's Hmong mountain people. The standard size produces a balanced fundamental that is neither too high nor too low – an ideal starting point for those new to the jaw harp. Thanks to the fine handwork, every piece sounds clear, sustained and rich.
How to use
Place the jaw harp gently in front of your mouth with the tongue resting against your lips. By changing the shape of your oral cavity, moving your tongue and breathing in and out, you create a wide range of sounds. With practice, you can even shape words and names – which is why speech therapists like the instrument so much. Designed for adult mouth size.
Why this product
If you are looking for an easy entry into throat singing, overtone music, meditative or shamanic traditions, the standard jaw harp is the perfect choice. It needs no prior training, yet offers years of exploration. The fabric-wrapped wooden pouch protects it during storage and transport.
Care tips
- Hold the jaw harp firmly to your lips with your tongue but do not bite the metal – teeth can be damaged.
- Take care: the metal is sharp and pointed – risk of injury to mouth or fingers.
- After use, wipe with a dry cloth and return to the pouch.
- Do not give to children – this is the adult size.
