In this Ispalla variant the fine Palo Santo powder is paired with copal resin. The resulting aroma is warmer, slightly more resinous and a touch more lasting than the pure Palo Santo version. The sticks are made by hand in Peru, around a bamboo core that gives them stability.
What copal resin is
Copal is a soft, fragrant resin from trees native to Central and South America, used for incense since ancient times. Paired with Palo Santo it brings a deeper, warmer scent profile: the sweet-woody base is joined by a resinous, slightly balsamic note.
What the cardboard display holds
The display contains twelve separate small packs, each holding around 13 g of sticks. This format is comfortable for you when several people in the household enjoy incense, or when you would like to share small portions with others. Individual wrapping helps preserve the aroma.
Origin and handcraft
The sticks are hand-made in Peru from Palo Santo (Bursera graveolens) powder, copal resin, distilled water and a bamboo stick. The wood comes only from naturally fallen branches. Information on the display is provided in English and Spanish.
How to use it
Take a stick from the small pack and light the tip. Let it burn with a flame for a few seconds, then blow it out – the glowing end will continue to smoulder on its own. Place it in a heat-resistant holder so the ash falls onto a dish or plate. One stick gives about 50 minutes of soft, slightly resinous aroma.
Storage and warnings
Unopened small packs kept in the original box, in a cool dry place, will preserve their aroma for a long time. Never leave a burning stick unattended, keep it away from children and pets, and ventilate the room from time to time. Because of the natural origin of the ingredients, slight differences between packs are normal.
