Patchouli's deep, earthy, anise-woody scent is one of the classic base notes of perfumery. It is hand-rolled to an Indian masala recipe, with a full, lingering smoke.
The patchouli scent
Patchouli is the characteristically earthy scent drawn from the leaf of Pogostemon cablin, known as an aroma of groundedness and sensuality. Its smoke is full-bodied and lasting, warmly filling a space.
Masala incense
Masala incense is not a single essential oil but a hand-kneaded blend of spices, resins and botanicals. This is what gives its smoke a full, layered and slowly unfolding character.
How to use
Place the stick in a heat-resistant incense holder, light the tip, then gently blow out the flame so it begins to smoulder. Always burn under supervision in a well-ventilated room, and keep away from children and flammable materials. It is about 22 cm long.
