Tolu balsam is a warm, vanilla-like resin from South and Central America: burned, it opens brighter and then unfolds into a sweet, vanilla smoke. This loose, natural balsam creates an intimate, warm mood.
About Tolu balsam
Tolu balsam (Myroxylon balsamum) comes from trees of South and Central America and has long been prized by the indigenous cultures there. Its scent is brighter at first, then turns vanilla-sweet. Because it becomes fluid when heated, it is best burned on charcoal only, not on a sieve burner.
How to use it
Tolu balsam should be burned on glowing charcoal only, since it becomes fluid when heated — it is not suitable for a sieve burner. Place a small piece on the heated charcoal in a heat-safe dish, in a well-ventilated space.
