Sandarac is a clean, pine-scented resin from the lands of southern Spain and Morocco: burned, it gives a bright, balsamic smoke. This loose, natural resin evokes a mood of calm and clarity.
About sandarac
The sandarac tree (Tetraclinis articulata) is native to southern Spain and Morocco; its resin has been gathered for incense since ancient times. It has a clean, pine-balsamic scent. Tradition linked it with refreshing a space, with clarity and with calm; it also blends well with benzoin and sandalwood.
How to use it
Resin is traditionally burned on glowing charcoal or on a dedicated sieve burner. Place a small piece on the heated charcoal or above the sieve, and the resin slowly melts, releasing fragrant smoke. Always use a heat-safe dish in a well-ventilated space.
