Labdanum is a warm, amber-like resin used for incense since ancient times: burned, it gives a sensual, balsamic smoke. This loose, natural resin is a classic of the Mediterranean incense tradition.
About labdanum
Labdanum comes from the rock rose (Cistus ladaniferus) of Crete; an incense resin used since time immemorial and mentioned in the Bible, mixed with myrrh. It has a warm, amber-like, sensual scent. Tradition linked it with awakening the senses and with a warm, intimate mood.
How to use it
Resin is traditionally burned on glowing charcoal or on a dedicated sieve burner. Place a small piece on the heated charcoal or above the sieve, and the resin slowly melts, releasing fragrant smoke. Always use a heat-safe dish in a well-ventilated space.
