Galbanum is a deep-green, balsamic resin, regarded by ancient incense cultures as a "mother resin". Burned, it gives a green, lightly musky smoke. This loose, natural resin offers a distinctive, grounded scent.
About galbanum
Galbanum (Ferula galbaniflua) is obtained from the roots of a shrub one to two metres tall; it is an incense substance used since ancient times. It has a distinctive, green, musk-like balsamic scent. Tradition linked it with protection and with a liberating, opening mood, calling it a "mother resin".
How to use it
Resin is traditionally burned on glowing charcoal or on a dedicated sieve burner. Place a small piece on the heated charcoal or above the sieve, and the resin slowly melts, releasing fragrant smoke. Always use a heat-safe dish in a well-ventilated space.
