Elemi is a fresh, lively resin: burned, it gives a citrus-pine, balsamic smoke that brings a light, clean feel to a room. This loose, natural resin creates an airy, bright mood.
About elemi
Elemi (Canarium luzonicum) is the resin of trees native to the Philippines and the Moluccas; the trees grow up to 30 metres tall, and the resin is gathered by scoring the bark. It is known for its fresh, citrus-balsamic scent. Tradition linked it with clarity and refreshment, for moments that ask for greater mental focus.
How to use it
Resin is traditionally burned on glowing charcoal or on a dedicated sieve burner. Place a small piece on the heated charcoal or above the sieve, and the resin slowly melts, releasing fragrant smoke. Always use a heat-safe dish in a well-ventilated space.
