The scent of Benzoin Sumatra has two faces: a bright opening that settles into a warm, vanilla-like depth. This loose, natural resin evokes the mood of old ritual incense.
About Benzoin Sumatra
Benzoin Sumatra (Styrax benzoin) is obtained from the tree's resin. Burned, it opens with a brighter note and settles into a soft, vanilla-like scent. It was traditionally used in the rituals of the Malay rainforests and at Muslim celebrations; tradition linked it with feelings of security and peace.
How to use it
Resin is traditionally burned on glowing charcoal or on a dedicated sieve burner. Place a small piece on the heated charcoal or above the sieve, and the resin slowly melts, releasing fragrant smoke. Always use a heat-safe dish in a well-ventilated space.
