This richly decorated, elongated incense holder is made of Indian elm and adorned with polished amethyst. The larger tray catches the falling ash securely, so it can sit comfortably as an ornament in a living room or meditation corner.
The symbol and amethyst
The motif forms two outstretched, radiant palms: a symbol of the laying on of hands, an ancient image of touch and good intention, meant to express the return of balance and well-being. The laying on of hands is an old practice, still present in various forms of energy work and Reiki. The deep violet of the polished amethyst is a solemn companion to the holder; tradition knows it as a stone of calm and meditation.
What it suits
It is made for thinner incense sticks – such as Japanese, yoga, masala or agarbatti incense. Always burn the glowing stick on a heat-resistant, stable surface in a draught-free spot, and never leave it unattended.
Finish and care
The warm grain of Indian elm and the polished sheen of the stone together give a premium yet down-to-earth look. Empty the ash from the tray now and then, and care for the wood with a dry cloth. It measures about 25.5 × 5 cm; as the amethyst is a natural mineral, its shade and veining are unique to each piece.
