A box that brings rhythm to life
A cajon is a box-shaped percussion instrument played by striking the front or back panel with the hands. Despite its simple appearance, it offers a remarkably wide tonal range, from deep bass tones to crisp, snare-like slaps. It has become one of the most beloved instruments of acoustic, world and fusion music.
A travel companion
This travel cajon measures 30.5 x 29.5 x 7.3 centimetres and is the slim, double-sided version of the traditional form. The thin body makes transport especially convenient while preserving every sonic advantage. The adjustable snare element produces crisp, sharp tones, while the main body brings out varied drum sounds depending on where you strike.
Playable while standing
The package includes a carrying strap, with which you may hang the instrument over your shoulder and play standing up. This is perfect for spontaneous musical moments, outdoor gatherings or as a rhythmic foundation for a sound-healing session. You may create your own rhythm in the middle of the household, in the garden or at a friendly meeting alike.
Careful choice of materials
The panels are made from a combination of maple and zebrawood, each bringing its own character. The frame is built from multi-layer birch that makes the piece both robust and resonant. Precise layer thicknesses are: front panel 1.5 mm, side panel 12 mm, back panel 2.5 mm. This layering ensures that the tones speak clearly and to the point.
The origin of the cajon
The cajon traces back to the Afro-Peruvian community of the 18th century. Enslaved Africans, forbidden to play their traditional drums, repurposed wooden shipping crates into instruments. This resourceful act of cultural survival grew into a recognised art form: a wooden box that carries centuries of tribal and modern rhythm. It brings this rich heritage to you as well.
