Himalayan salt lamp – Mandala shape with cable and bulb

Mandala-motif Himalayan salt lamp from Pakistan on acacia base, with cable and bulb. 22×19×10 cm, 5.66 kg. For meditation and yoga rooms.

The meaning of the mandala motif

Mandala is a Sanskrit word meaning circle, and in Buddhist and Hindu traditions it symbolises the order of the universe and harmony. On this salt lamp the mandala is engraved into the front of the salt crystal, so when switched on the light breaks through along every line and casts a delicate, radiating form onto the surrounding wall for you. You receive a special, thought-inspiring decoration.

Dimensions and weight

The lamp is 22 cm wide, 19 cm tall and 10 cm deep, weighing about 5.66 kg. This size is particularly good for a medium living room, bedroom or a meditation corner. The dark acacia wood base steadily supports the crystal and gives contrast to the pink-orange salt stone. The base comes with a cable with switch and an E14 traditional bulb, so you can use it straight from the box.

Traditional bulb, warmer glow

The 15-watt traditional bulb gives a warmer, more golden, candle-like light than the LED versions. Along the mandala carving, the light breaks through more strongly, so a delicate, patterned shadow can be cast onto the surrounding wall. For evening meditation, in a yoga room or in a calm reading corner, it is more ideal than a cool LED lamp, because the more natural light supports slowing down.

Meditation and relaxation

The mandala on its own already gives a focus point for meditation — many specifically use it to gaze at the pattern while taking deep breaths. The warm salt-lamp light does not disturb the meditation practice, but provides a quiet, gentle background. If you practise yoga or meditate at home regularly, this lamp can help you to align the space with your practice as well.

Care and lasting use

The deeper grooves of the engraved mandala collect dust more easily, so it is worth wiping it once a month with a soft, dry brush or microfibre cloth. Keep it away from humid rooms and cold, damp walls. Stick felt pads to the base, because minimal moisture may seep from the salt crystal and leave a mark on the wood surface. When moving, wrap it in paper.
