Rose-scented HEM incense sticks in a red hexagonal box. The box is about 25 cm long and the sticks are made in India. Its scent is floral, the classic smell of roses.
Rose and love
In many cultures rose is a sign of love, and tradition gives rose incense the same meaning. Many people keep it for an evening for two or an anniversary dinner, or light it when they are thinking fondly of someone.
Hungary has its own rose story. Legend has it that Rózsadomb, the Hill of Roses in Budapest, is named after Gül Baba, the "father of roses", who planted roses on the hillside in Ottoman times.
A red box to go with a gift
This red hexagonal box works well as a small present. If you are looking for something scented to go with a candle, a book or an incense holder, it is a good addition. Given together with a holder, it can be lit straight away.
For a gentler floral scent, try HEM's jasmine incense, which is softer.
Lighting it for dinner
Don't put the incense next to the food. Stand it in a heat-proof holder on a sideboard or dresser instead, away from napkins and the tablecloth. Light the tip, blow out the flame and let it smoulder.
While it burns, stay in the room. Air the room afterwards, and press the glowing end into sand before bed. If you have small children, cats or dogs, put the holder up high, out of their reach.
Store the sticks in their box somewhere dry so they do not take up moisture.
