HEM Hexagonal Incense Sticks – Coconut

Coconut-scented HEM incense sticks in a green hexagonal box about 25 cm long. A fresh, light scent from India. One box.

This green hexagonal box holds coconut-scented incense sticks made by HEM in India. The box is about 25 cm long, with a drawing of a halved coconut and green leaves on the side and the word “Coconut” on it. You get one box, without a holder.

A lighter scent next to classic incense

Coconut is a fresh, tropical scent, lighter than floral, woody or spicy incense. We suggest it if you find frankincense or sandalwood too heavy but still like to light a stick in the afternoon or before guests arrive.

In India, where this incense is made, the coconut is one of the most important offerings in Hindu worship. Worshippers break it open in temples and place it before the shrine.

For the terrace and winter afternoons

In summer you can light it on the terrace too, somewhere out of the wind so the tip burns evenly. Come winter, many people choose it because the smell of coconut reminds them of summer. If that sounds like you, one stick with your afternoon coffee is plenty. For just a hint of it, put it out halfway and light the rest another day.

Lighting and putting it out

Stand the stick in a heat-resistant holder, light the tip and blow out the flame once it starts to glow. It then smoulders slowly and gives off fragrant smoke. Stay nearby while it burns, and let some fresh air in.

Before you go to bed or leave the house, press the glowing end into sand or a heat-resistant bowl. Keep children, pets and birds away from the smoke. Store the remaining sticks in their box in a dry place.
